President Prabowo Subianto is confident in Indonesia’s ability to achieve net-zero carbon emissions on schedule, positioning the country to be among the first to reach this milestone. In a video conference inaugurating renewable energy development and oil production expansion in East Java, Prabowo emphasized Indonesia’s efficiency in energy generation and reducing costly logistics chains.
The President highlighted the importance of energy independence in Indonesia’s vision for national sovereignty, with the government planning to launch 55 new renewable energy projects, including geothermal power plants. This initiative aims to provide clean, reliable, and efficient energy throughout the archipelago.
Prabowo praised the collaborative efforts of ministries, regulatory bodies, and energy companies like Medco Energi and ExxonMobil in supporting Indonesia’s energy transformation. While recognizing the country’s significant oil and gas reserves, he stressed the importance of renewable energy, especially solar power, in ensuring energy self-sufficiency for communities nationwide.
The President expressed optimism for Indonesia’s future, citing solar energy as a beacon of hope for villages, districts, regencies, and remote islands. By embracing renewable energy sources, Indonesia can pave the way for a brighter and more sustainable future.
