The atmosphere at the Palácio do Planalto in Brasília was solemn and dignified as President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, arrived for a state visit to meet with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. President Prabowo was warmly greeted with full military honors by President Lula upon his arrival at 10:35 a.m. local time on Wednesday.
Dressed impeccably in a dark navy suit and traditional Indonesian peci, Prabowo walked past the Honor Guard of Brazil, who were lined up neatly to receive him. The Indonesian flag was raised alongside Brazil’s national flag while the Indonesian national anthem Indonesia Raya echoed through the square.
Following the ceremonial welcome, President Prabowo and President Lula entered the palace, exchanged a warm handshake, and posed for official photographs before meeting with members of their delegations. President Prabowo was joined by several senior Indonesian officials, including Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan and Minister of Trade Budi Santoso, among others.
Representatives from the Brazilian side included Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira and Minister of the Environment Marina Silva, among others. The visit was further highlighted by a ceremonial performance by the Brazilian military band and mounted cavalry, who proudly flew the Indonesian flag from the palace balcony, symbolizing the growing friendship between the two G20 and BRICS member states.
