The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) took center stage on Monday morning, leading France’s prestigious Bastille Day military parade along the iconic Champs-Élysées in Paris. This marked a historic moment in the diplomatic relations between Indonesia and France, as TNI troops were honored as the lead contingent in the annual military procession, commemorating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
A total of 260 TNI soldiers, accompanied by 189 members of the combined military marching band, delivered a striking performance that was precise, spirited, and vibrant. Dressed in ceremonial uniforms adorned with helmets featuring symbols such as tigers, eagles, sharks, and seals, each emblem showcased the unique identity and pride of Indonesia’s armed service branches.
The enthusiastic applause from thousands of spectators, including French President Emmanuel Macron, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, and the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal al-Ahmad al-Sabah, greeted the energetic appearance of the Indonesian contingent along the parade route in Paris. International media outlets, such as BFMTV, TV5 Monde, Ouest France, and L’Union, highlighted Indonesia’s honored role in the parade, with France 24 reporting that over 450 Indonesian troops participated in the event.
The Indonesian delegation noted that Indonesia’s role as the guest of honor symbolized the deepening strategic partnership between Indonesia and France, particularly within the Indo-Pacific framework.
