The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has temporarily suspended the operations of its Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) due to the discovery of substandard food within the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program. This decision was announced by Redy Hendra Gunawan, Special Staff to the BGN, in Jakarta on Monday. BGN is working with independent institutions, local health, and education departments to investigate the incident while ensuring the health of affected students. The agency has expressed its deepest apologies to the students, parents, schools, and all affected parties and emphasized its zero-tolerance policy for negligence in food procurement and distribution. BGN is coordinating with local authorities to respond swiftly and effectively to the situation and has outlined corrective measures in partner screening, hygiene standards, supply chain improvements, and the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). BGN is committed to upholding food safety standards and ensuring that the MBG Program continues to benefit recipients without compromising health. This incident will serve as a learning opportunity for future enhancements to the program.
