Deputy Minister for Population and Family Development (Wamendukbangga), Ratu Ayu Isyana Bagoes Oka, emphasized the importance of parents staying updated on their children’s interests and engaging in physical activities together to prevent addiction to games and gadgets. Speaking at a Double Check discussion organized by the Presidential Communication Office (PCO) and Gempita, Isyana highlighted the need for parents to keep pace with online applications as children learn quickly in the digital age. She noted that children tend to seek instant gratification through social media scrolling and online gaming, leading to potential addiction issues. Isyana also underlined the benefits of outdoor activities and sunlight in promoting dopamine release, emphasizing the human body’s need for movement. Additionally, Deputy Minister Veronica Tan shared about the Ruang Bersama Indonesia (RBI) program, aimed at providing a safe and inclusive space for women, children, and communities to empower themselves, engage in traditional games and sports, and reduce dependence on gadgets. Through initiatives like RBI, parents can encourage children to explore creative outlets and physical activities, fostering a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
