Indonesia, August 11, 2025 — A senior expert from the Presidential Communication Office (PCO), Hariqo Wibawa Satria, emphasized the significance of the Free Health Check (CKG) program as a crucial step towards a healthier nation. According to Hariqo, CKG serves as the initial stage towards liberation from illnesses, fostering awareness and inspiring individuals to prioritize their health throughout their lives.

With each passing Independence Day on August 17, Hariqo envisions not only celebrating another year of freedom but also witnessing a growing number of Indonesians freed from illnesses. The administration of President Prabowo has launched a series of comprehensive and continuous priority programs to achieve this goal, including CKG, the “Stop TB” campaign, renovating regional public hospitals, and offering special allowances for medical specialists in remote areas.

While Indonesia commemorates its 80th year of independence, Hariqo acknowledges that the country still grapples with the burden of diseases that impact its economic and social well-being. Despite an average life expectancy of 73 to 74 years, illnesses continue to hinder productivity and GDP growth. Studies reveal that illness-related productivity losses, such as absenteeism and reduced work performance, have significantly affected the country’s GDP.

In addition to economic repercussions, Indonesia also faces substantial costs associated with smoking, obesity, and tropical diseases like leptospirosis. Hariqo emphasizes that investing in health is not merely a social expense but a strategic economic asset. He highlights the prevalence of diseases among Indonesian children, attributing issues like diabetes and obesity to a lack of health education and excessive gadget use.

By promoting initiatives like CKG, Indonesia aims to cultivate a healthier population that can actively contribute to national development and economic progress. Hariqo stresses that a healthy workforce can enhance life expectancy and bolster human resource productivity, further driving GDP growth. Improved public health is expected to boost the overall contribution of a healthy workforce to GDP, potentially leading to a 1-2 percent annual GDP growth rate decline in illness rates.
