Ferrari’s Latest Electric Car: The Electtrica
Ferrari is defying expectations by entering the world of electric supercars. The new car, known for now as the Electtrica, is set to debut next year. Ferrari has revealed some initial specifications for this new model, and from a technical standpoint, it sounds impressive.
The Electtrica will be a grand tourer based on the older GTC4Lusso model, but with a front-mounted driving position and a relatively short wheelbase of 116.5 inches, more akin to mid-engine supercars. Ferrari has developed the 800-volt battery and motor in-house, to be manufactured at the Maranello plant.
In Boost mode, the Electtrica will generate over 986 horsepower from four electric motors, with a 122.0 kilowatt-hour (gross) battery offering a WLTP range of up to 329 miles (expected to be 300 miles or less in EPA testing in the US). The claimed 0-62 mph time is 2.5 seconds, with a top speed of 192 mph.
With this car, Ferrari continues its development path by utilizing advanced hardware and software for total control over vehicle dynamics. The four motors allow for precise balance control, similar to the active suspension system used in the Purosangue and F80 models.
Illustrating Ferrari’s Active Suspension Technology (FAST), which is based on Multimatic dampers with ball screws driven by 48-volt motors attached to the damper piston, results in a system that can inject additional energy into the car, providing full control over vehicle movement for exceptional handling.
Coupled with independent rear-wheel steering, where each wheel can move in opposition to the other, gives complete control over the movement of each wheel in any direction. The power distribution is notable, with the rear motors capable of producing 416 horsepower each, while the front motors, similar to those used in the F80, each produce 141 hp.
There are still many details to be revealed, such as the car’s appearance and price. Ferrari will release more information before the full launch in the first half of 2026.
While some may be skeptical of Ferrari’s shift to electric vehicles, the Electtrica represents a significant step for the brand. Ferrari’s technical prowess in this electric model could set a standard for other companies to follow. Exciting times lie ahead for Ferrari fans and automotive enthusiasts alike.
